The Death of Stalin

Maybe Go
The Death of Stalin is one of those films you will either love or just not get at all. The material itself is frightening, some pretty horrific real-life events happening, but performed in a way that you can’t help but laugh at, albeit with a little dread. Nightmares make more sense. Purges sweep away the unwise and unlucky, army and security forces vie for the upper hand, prison doors open and close, executions take place in broad daylight and back stabbing rules the day. This is political satire at its best.
The actors are amazingly good, especially Jeffrey Tambor as Malenkov, Steve Buscemi as Khrushchev and Jason Isaacs as Zhukov. This is an intelligent comic romp with excellent caricatures of the names you’ll know from history that will keep you laughing from start to finish whilst educating you about this period of history.

Tomb Raider

Go
A nicely done action/adventure movie that will remind you a little bit of Indiana Jones. Alicia Vikander is great as Lara Croft, who decides to look for her missing father, and ends up fighting for her life. Great action sequences with a decent story line. Supporting cast was very good. Loved seeing Walter Goggins as Mathias Vogel.
There were many action sequences that surprised and amazed me plus the fact that she did all of her own stunts. She is five foot five, one hundred twenty pounds and doesn’t win every fight; but she always gets back up.
Good story, good performances all around and awesome action sequences. I hope it does well enough to warrant at least one sequel. I wanted to watch it again straight away. Just go see it.

The Greatest Showman

Should Go
It’s a beautiful movie in every way and extremely well made. The choreography is great, the dancing is phenomenal, everyone’s voices were incredible and the story was extremely inspirational!
It was moving, upbeat, and romantic. Can’t say enough good things about it. Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, and Zendaya are all so talented. This film was truly spectacular, with an amazing plot line, and memorable soundtrack, which successfully tied the story together.
Hugh Jackman successfully expresses the idea of never giving up, and how anything is possible if you work for it. Although people may judge you, there will always be a place for you in the world. You should stand up for yourself, and not let the way people view you, stop you from living the life you dreamed of. Show the people who didn’t believe in you that everyone has the chance to create something spectacular.
It is a musical so if that isn’t for you, I am sorry. For me bring on the singing Bearded Lady.

Game Night

Go
I was trying to remember the last time I saw a good, funny film that did not rely on gross out humor or sex & fart jokes to mine it’s laughs. Game Night is a very funny, mostly clean, good old-fashioned comedy where the comedy comes out of how the characters react and interact with each other as an increasingly complex and out-of-control series of events batter them from every possible angle.
This makes for a perfectly fun time at the movies. It is filled with nonstop laughs. The entire theater laughed throughout the movie. The game night trivia questions will make you grin, especially the Hulk questions. Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams make a credible couple poised to take the next big step in their marriage. Danny Huston and “Dexter’s” Michael C. Hall make amusing villains.
Game Night is a hilarious & action-packed film. Makes me want to have a game night!
