The Big Short

Must Go
Economics is a snoozer. I used to pick up my Macro book when I could not sleep and blam straight to the land of Winken, Blinken and Nod. However, I never had an instructor lecture from a bubble bath (darn!). This movie will give a small insight into the world of banking. It is well worth the trip. I hope you are as angry as I was (like after Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room).
The movie is funny and sarcastic as it follows three separate stories of people who benefitted from the fall of the economy. Are they villains or heroes? You will love this movie and come away with the depressing knowledge that we never learn from our mistakes.

The Downfall of the CPA’s
Some subjects are more alienating than others, and one of those subjects is economics/finance, largely because of its dependency upon a plethora of terminology and jargon that usually cannot be adequately defined without including other terminology or jargon. Before you know it, searching the definition of something like a “Roth IRA” leads you to Google searches about embezzlement and quantitative easing in efforts to try and circumvent and define what you were originally looking for. (Snoozing yet?)
This is what a CPA is supposed to cut through. Indeed CPA’s made America great by stopping fraud and assorted monkey business in its tracks. If a CPA certified the books everything was on the up and up. If not you were finished.
Along comes the rise of the MBA a group dedicated to principles of
Complicate to Obfuscate
and
Money at Any Cost

CEOs at the nation’s largest publicly traded companies received 373 times the compensation of the average production and nonsupervisory worker last year, that’s obscene.
CPA’s have traded their honor and integrity and moved to the dark side. They earn ridicules fees checking books and don’t care that they cannot understand what is in a loan packet. I am embarrassed to be associated with them. The movie only makes reference to Standard and Poor and their lack of integrity.
All Hail Mammon!! the demon of money and material wealth and is associated with the greedy pursuit of gain.
