Bridge of Spies

Go
James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks) was an insurance attorney and presented the appearance of being misplaced in his role as defense attorney and negotiator. Unmentioned in the movie and in reality, he was formerly General Counsel for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), formed under Franklin Roosevelt and William J. Donovan (no relation) during WWII. The OSS was the direct predecessor of the CIA. There was no doubt he was well known and connected within the intelligence community.
Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance) is excellent as a stoic captured spy.
Things I loved about this movie: Old cars, civil defense film strip – if we drop and cover we will be safe from a nuclear bomb!!, Check Point Charlie – been there, East Berlin shabby and dreary.
This is a very good period movie. Well acted. Go you will enjoy this.
